Target makes for a great one-stop shop. You can find everything from clothes to toys, from electronics to home decor…you name it! This retail store also makes for a great place to pick up your groceries for the week. While Target carries a lot of popular food brands, they also feature their own special stock, such as Good & Gather and Favorite Day, making for a cost-efficient shopping option. Similarly to other brands, there are plenty of foods that are healthy and delicious and are worth purchasing. 1. Favorite Day Original Flatbread

In the mood for a pizza? What about a sandwich, or maybe some homemade chips? Flatbreads are a game-changer when it comes to eating what you desire, and this healthiest Target food hits the nail on the head.

“I love these flatbreads because first, they are super versatile; they can be used to make wraps, pizzettes, desserts, tacos, burritos, etc,” says Karla De Epstein, M.S., C.N.C, aka “Coach Karli,” founder of MacroFIT by PeruvianPrincessFit. “Second, they’re made of whole wheat, which makes them complex carbohydrates, and we love complex carbs because they take longer for the body to process and tend to impact blood sugar at a slow, steady pace.”

Coach Karli’s third reason is that these bread delights are only 90 calories, yet they provide ten grams of fiber. Which for most females, according to Coach Karli, is almost 50% of their daily intake. They also contain seven grams of protein.

2. Good & Gather Red Pepper Hummus

Whether you’re a dipper, a scooper, or a spoonful kind of snacker, this hummus is a great spread to add some flavor to your day.

“A perfect dip for carrots or crackers, the Good & Gather Red Pepper Hummus is one of the healthiest and tastiest Target-brand foods,” says Megan Huff, RD, LD, an Atlanta-based Cardiac ICU Dietitian. “It is low in sodium, sugar, and carbs, and contains no artificial ingredients, colors, or flavors. Made from chickpeas, this hummus is a delicious, plant-based option!”

3. Good & Gather Chickpea Spaghetti

“Target’s Good & Gather line continues to shine in the realm of shelf-stable pantry items available across most locations,” says Kelsey Costa, MS, RDN, a registered dietitian and nutrition consultant for Consumer Health Digest. “Staples such as Good & Gather Gluten-free Chickpea Spaghetti provide nutritious bases for a meal.”

According to Costa, chickpea spaghetti is both rich in fiber and a plant-based protein, which helps in promoting gut health and aiding weight management, making it one of the healthiest Target foods you can buy.

4. Good & Gather Fruit & Vegetable Fruit Strips

Sometimes, fresh fruit won’t cut it. You want something sweet without feeling like you should grab an apple or orange from your refrigerator. Instead, you can have something that not only tastes like candy but is nutrient-rich.

“Made with purely fruit and vegetable juices and purées, these fruit strips are a quick, portable way to satisfy a sweet tooth without any added sugars,” says Dr. Danielle Kelvas, MD, a Medical Advisor for R’s KOSO.

5. Good & Gather Charcuterie Trio Sampler Pack with Calabrese Salami, Prosciutto and Capocollo

Charcuterie is all the rage right now, you can find it at restaurants or DIY kits in grocery stores. And typically speaking, you do not associate salty meats and cheeses with being the healthiest Target foods (or healthiest foods, in general).

“As a Macro Coach and Body Building Fitness competitor, my protein intake is extremely important,” says Coach Karli. “I am always looking for alternative protein sources to make my intake less boring. You don’t have to eat chicken breast every single day!”

According to Coach Karli, this charcuterie sampler is not only macro-friendly, but it also has clean ingredients! It also features seven grams of protein and only one gram of carbs.

6. Good & Gather Frozen Fruit Blend

Good & Gather has lots of frozen fruit options, so have your way with a variety thanks to its fruit blends.

“Good & Gather keeps it simple with just fruit and no added sugars or other ingredients,” says Sara Chatfield, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist at Healthcanal.com. “Our family likes to put them in smoothies, which is a great way to get in extra antioxidant-packed produce, especially for picky eaters.”

These frozen bags are also a good way to get your nutrients in, easily counting for one of the healthiest Target foods.

“Good & Gather Antioxidant Frozen Fruit Blend is loaded with antioxidants, fiber, and vitamins that help boost immunity, digestion, and overall wellness,” Costa adds.

With the holiday season coming up, Target emphasizes getting into the cheery spirit, including adding some festive pantry items to their shelves.

“If you love snacking on some nuts during the holidays, the Holiday Sea Salt Roasted Deluxe Mixed Nuts is my fave mix,” says Coach Karli. “Simply a bunch of delicious, crunchy, lightly salted (with sea salt) healthy fats in a jar.”

Coach Karli’s preference is this mix of almonds, cashews, hazelnuts, and pecans because they not only provide some protein but are also cholesterol-free.
