Are you finding it difficult to shop for groceries due to rising food prices and inflation? If so, there’s a new app you need to download to your phone. Flashfood is an innovative app that connects consumers with grocery stores to offer discounts on all the foods that they need. With Flashfood, families have even been able to save over $180 million in the last two years, and consumers can regularly find daily deals up to 50% off regular prices! Plus, the app doesn’t require any hidden fees to use, making it even easier to save some extra cash.

“Grocers, unfortunately, despite their best efforts, continue to create more food waste than they want to,” says Nick Bertram, president and COO of Flashfood. “And then on the other side, you’ve got entire communities who are either malnourished, have food access issues, or just can’t afford the things that are the best for their families. So we made a very simple, yet elegant app in the marketplace that connects those two things.”

So if you’re tired of those absurdly high prices at the grocery store and you want to save money, Flashfood may be the answer you’ve been searching for.

How the Flashfood app works, and where you can use it

The app is simple to use, and it’s available in a growing number of stores across the United States and Canada. Simply download the app, browse the available deals, and select the items you want to purchase. Flashfood takes any major credit card, VISA debit card, or SNAP and EBT cards. Once you’ve paid, you simply pick up your items at the store.

With over half a million items added to the app each week, there’s always something new to discover. Thankfully, Flashfood is easy to use and access across many major retailers, including Stop & Shop, Hy-Vee, Giant, Meijer, and more. It’s currently located in 25 states and all of the provinces in Canada, and they are expanding their reach for consumers at a rapid speed.

Flashfood offers a variety of food items, including fresh produce, meat, dairy, bakery items, and more. The most popular item consumers seem to go for — and save quite a bit on — is protein.

“Anytime that you have meat, fish, or something like that, it’s pretty popular,” says Bertram. “Dairy is huge, as well as fruits and vegetables.”

Flashfood helps to reduce food waste and save.

This app is a win-win solution that benefits both consumers and grocery stores. Stores are able to reduce their food waste by selling items that would otherwise be thrown away, while consumers can save money on their grocery bills.

Food waste is a significant and growing problem around the world. According to the United Nations, one-third of all food produced globally is wasted, which amounts to about 1.3 billion tons of food per year. In the United States alone, it’s estimated that up to 40% of all food produced is wasted. This not only has financial implications but also has a significant environmental impact. When food is wasted, it contributes to greenhouse gas emissions and wastes natural resources such as water and land.

Flashfood is one solution to this problem. By connecting consumers with discounted food items that are nearing their expiration date, or foods that are not cosmetically “fit” for grocery store standards, it helps to reduce the amount of food that is wasted all around.

“We’re really just trying to solve the problem,” says Bertram. “Retailers have too much, and consumers don’t have enough. So we pulled them together. Plus, there are no fees or anything like that. We just want to make it easy for people to save money and reduce food waste.”
