The Summer Snacks We’re Stocking Up on Right Now
Snacking and summer go hand in hand, which is why it’s so vital to have healthy snacks on hand. Here are the summer snacks you’ll find in our carts right now. (P.S. If you’re heading to Costco to pick up some healthy lunch shortcuts, you can find all of these picks there too.)
What’s a backyard movie night without popcorn? We have a few favorites, starting with Organic Nearly Naked Popcornopolis. This is pretty darn terrific tasting pre-popped popcorn, with just enough salty bite and plenty airy crunch to satisfy the pickiest popcorn-lover.
We also love Lesser Evil Popcorn, which showcases the subtle and unique taste of pink Himalayan salt. Or you could try their summer seasonal flavors which include lemonade, watermelon hibiscus, and pink grapefruit — oh my!
2. Roasted Edamame
With more protein, and far less fat than nuts, this protein-packed powerhouse earns its place at the top of our summer snacking list. We like Seapoint Farms Dry Roasted Edamame which have just two ingredients: soybeans and sea salt. Eat them right from the bag or toss a few on salad just before eating so they stay crunchy.
3. Seedy Crackers
Specifically Crunchmaster 5 Seed Multigrain Crackers. Super-crispy, super-crunchy, and super-satisfying, these crackers are terrific by themselves, but they also make great vessels for dips. Pair them with hummus or your favorite nut butter and these chipper-dippers are anything but blah.
4. Acai Bites
Unsweetened acai packets are great, but Sambazon Superfruit Acai Bites are the tiny treats I can’t get enough of. These frozen treats showcase a tart-sweet, dairy free sorbet surrounded by a crisp layer of ultra-dark chocolate. At 50 calories and only 4 grams of added sugar per mini-bar, these are a dessert-style style snack that’s perfect in the summer heat.
Note: If you can’t handle sugar alcohols or soy isn’t in your program, be careful, since this does have erythritol and soy lecithin.
We know you know, but it’s worth saying again: Nuts are a great snack to have around. These nutritional superheroes can keep hanger at bay and they can also be a last-minute app for impromptu guests. You know, now that entertaining is back on again.
Good food brings people together. So do good emails.
