We hate to tell people that they have to buy anything in order to get an organized kitchen (which, by the way, is a key component of a healthy kitchen). Organization can usually be achieved without expensive bins, baskets, and holders. For example, you can use an old food storage container to hold bits and bobs in your junk drawer. You can turn an empty cereal box into a lid organizer. Or you can repurpose a binder clip from your WFH office into a bag clip. You get the point. However, there is one kitchen organizer that we strongly believe everyone needs.

We’re talking about the retro-yet-still-relevant lazy Susan. And not just any lazy Susan: ideally, this one from Copco.

The Copco lazy Susan measures 12 inches across and has a non-skid lining and a rimmed edge, both of which help to keep bottles and jars in place as the base spins. (There’s also a two-tiered version that we strongly recommend, if you have the vertical space.)

The Kitchen Organizer Everyone Needs

At the very least, we recommend a lazy Susan in the pantry for spices and bottles of oils. But this kitchen organizer also comes in handy in the fridge for condiments and spreads. You can use one in a cabinet for small prep bowls, dessert plates, and other pieces. We even like one for holding bottles of cleaning solutions in the cabinet under the sink.

Convinced? There’s just one tip we want to make sure you all know: When you set up your lazy Susan, put the tallest items in the middle and the shorter ones along the edge. And face all the labels out so that they’re pointed outward. This way, as you rotate the base, you’ll always be able to see what’s what and nothing will get blocked or hidden. Happy spinning! And better yet, happy finding what you need, when you need it!
