The weekend is here and you’ve got a packed schedule of hanging out with family and friends and making sure there’s something good to eat.
We love a smoky grilled piece of meat, fish or chicken as much as anyone, but vegetables enjoy just as prominent a place on our grates. Whether you’re a full-time vegetarian or just looking for summer grilling inspiration, here are some tasty and healthy dishes to light your fire.
We see you there at the BBQ, being so careful, loading up on the vegetables, avoiding the gloopy “salads,” going light (or skipping) the alcohol. Then, you top your bunless burger with some condiments, and suddenly you’ve inadvertently added hidden sugar and other undesirable ingredients to your plate. And all you wanted was a little ketchup.
Warm weather means cookouts, and we are so ready. What we’re not ready for: That slump that comes from over-indulging at mealtime.
It’s almost cookout season, which also makes it swimsuit season, plus the time of year you most want to have tons of energy to play outside and enjoy the sunshine. Luckily, with a few simple strategies, you can get your grill on and still look and feel amazing.
Burgers, corn on the cob, asparagus, chicken skewers, eggplant—grilling is one of the best parts of summer. Before you fire up the grill for your next cookout, consider the potential health and environmental impacts, including carcinogens in burned meat, greenhouse gas emissions from the grill and chemical additives in charcoal.
Juicy and piled mile-high, these better-for-you burgers should inspire you to turn the grill on now
Few foods speak more of summer than a big, fat, juicy burger. The quest for fire really intensifies when we see these decadent beauties on Instagram. Here are 12 of our favorites, all from home cooks. They are healthier than the typical fast-food version, made with grass-fed beef, or lean meats, poultry, fish or veggies. Pair them with some grilled veggies, a heaping side of mixed greens, and a cold cocktail or glass of rose, and you’ve got the perfect summer feast.
