The next time you’re craving something sweet, there are a couple things you should know. First, we’re wired to crave sugar. Glucose is, after all, the fuel that powers literally every cell in our bodies. It also increases dopamine and serotonin levels in our brains, which makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Second, for most of us, eliminating sugar completely is not the goal. We’re big believers in moderation, and within the everything-in-moderation mantra, we advocate better-for-you choices — like these low sugar cookies from Nunbelievable.

Nunbelievable Keto Cookies Are the Perfect Low Sugar Treat

They have zero added sugar and just one net gram of carbs. They’re also gluten-free and grain-free, and made with recognizable (and organic!) ingredients, like almond flour, butter, cream, and eggs. Importantly, they taste delicious. They use a combination of monk fruit, stevia, and erythritol, for just the right amount of sweetness to satisfy your cravings. And they come in four different nostalgic flavors — chocolate chip, pecan sandy, snickerdoodles, and double chocolate chip — so chocolate lovers and non-chocolate lovers are in luck. They’re firm but also crumbly, ready to eat out of hand or dip into coffee.

I consider them my emergency cookies — and yes, in my house we have cookie emergencies! Those emergencies can be sugar cravings you can’t swat away and also last-minute company, the need to serve a wide variety of eaters, and quick lunch box fixes. (They’re small, which is great for little hands, too–especially those that meet the bottom of an empty cookie jar with disappointment.)

And let’s talk about the eye-catching package design — yes, that is a nun! And a play on words! Nunbelievable was inspired by a group of nuns who have devoted their lives to serving others, selling cookies to support feeding those in need. “Eat a cookie, feed the hungry” means that for every cookie pack purchased, the company donates a meal to partner soup kitchens and people in need, from the nuns at the House of Mercy to Feeding America. Since January 2020, nearly 1 million meals have been donated! Now that’s a sweet treat.
