How this electric grill and pizza oven totally upgraded how I cook at home

Here’s the thing: I didn’t set out to become a “grill person” or a pizza-making expert. I just wanted to cook delicious meals for my family and guests, without a ton of fuss or flare-ups.

I’d been flirting with the idea of a backyard grill for years, but the propane tanks and constant babysitting always scared me off. And a pizza oven? That felt like a serious commitment. But then I came across Current, and… one thing led to another, and now I have both their Electric Grill and Pizza Oven.

Let me just say: These two appliances quickly became the best parts of my home cooking setup—not just because they’re easy to use, but because they’ve made me love cooking again. Seriously.

The pizza oven that made me a total show-off (in the best way)

Let’s start with the Current Pizza Oven, because I honestly didn’t expect to use it this often—or love it this much.

It’s compact, modern, and so clean-looking it doesn’t even feel like an “appliance.” You can use it indoors or out, which was a big yes for me—I wanted something I could keep in rotation year-round (because I personally love pizza when it’s chilly out).

The oven heats up to 850°F, which honestly sounded a little terrifying until I saw what it could do. We’re talking puffy, Neapolitan-style pizza with crisp edges and melted centers in two minutes. You barely have time to pour a drink before it’s done.

Also, small thing—but a big win: The crust actually crisps up like a wood-fired oven. So I literally get restaurant-quality pizza in my own kitchen without burning a log or messing with gas lines.

What I didn’t expect? How often I’d use it for other things too. I’ve roasted broccolini, broiled salmon, and reheated flatbreads (without making them sad and soggy). It’s fast, it’s even, and the app tells you exactly when it’s ready. (Yes, the pizza oven has an app.)

The grill that made me love outdoor cooking again

Then there’s the Current Electric Grill. I’ll admit—I had doubts about an electric grill. But after using it? I’m a total convert.

This thing is powerful. It gets up to 700°F and holds that heat like a pro. Since I started using it, I haven’t had a single dried-out steak or rubbery skewer. Just juicy, caramelized results every time—whether it’s ribeyes, tofu, or peaches (my personal favorite).

Also: it has dual zones, so I can sear on one side and keep something warm on the other. I’ve used it for Sunday dinners and quick weeknight meals, and I’ve never once missed the drama of a gas flame.

Bonus: It’s NFPA-approved for apartment use, so no propane tanks or fire hazards—you just plug it into a standard 110V outlet. It also looks gorgeous on a patio or deck. And when I’m done, the grates lift out for easy cleaning, which is… not something I can say about any grill I’ve ever owned.

These two appliances made cooking for people actually fun again

These two appliances weren’t just a personal upgrade—they’ve made cooking for other people easier, too.

The pizza oven is such a hit with guests. Everyone wants to top their own, peek through the window as it bubbles, and be amazed it cooks that fast. I’ve hosted casual build-your-own pizza nights that turned into full-blown dinner parties in under 30 minutes.

The grill, meanwhile, handles big batches like a pro. I’ve prepped a full meal—chicken thighs, asparagus, and blistered naan—all at once, with space to spare.

And because the tech does most of the heavy lifting (from the smart app alerts to the even heat), I actually get to enjoy being part of the gathering—not just stuck at the stove.

The verdict? Worth it.

I’ve bought my share of kitchen gadgets that ended up in the back of a cabinet. These two aren’t like that. They’re the kind of tools that actually make me cook more—and eat better. They made my food taste more exciting, my weeknights feel easier, and my weekends more fun. That’s a lot for a grill and an oven to deliver—but they do.

If you’ve been thinking about upgrading your setup, or you just want to enjoy home cooking again—especially if you’re someone who loves delicious food but doesn’t want the fuss—I’d say go for it.
