5 Healthy Costco Prepared Food Sides to Grab and Go

Costco is the one-stop shop that has it all; including lots of delicious pre-made foods. Among the popular Costco prepared food offerings are side dishes, which are especially good with one of the store’s most loved staples: its $5 rotisserie chicken. How beloved is this chicken? Costco sold 137 million of the birds last year. Given that many of us are picking up the chicken at Costco for a quick dinner, we thought we’d share five healthy, tasty sides that go perfectly with the chicken, so your whole meal can be hassle free.

1. Kirkland Signature Spinach Salad with Poppyseed Dressing

The Kirkland Signature spinach salad, from Costco’s prepared food section, is a nutrient-dense option with plenty of varying textures and flavors. Along with spinach, it features hard-boiled eggs, crumbled bacon, dried cranberries, cherry tomatoes, and onions, with a piquant dressing. Shred the chicken on top for a full meal.

2. Azuma Gourmet Seaweed Salad 

Seaweed is a great plant source of omega 3 fats, and contains both EPA and DHA, fatty acids that have been linked to improved cardiovascular function. It has a distinct umami flavor that’s something different from the usual sides. Bonus: It’s gluten-free. 

3. Taylor Farms Vegetable Tray with Ranch Dressing

Why wait for a party to grab this fun plate of crudite with ranch? It’s an easy, already-prepped platter with carrots, celery, broccoli, peppers, and snap peas, and it makes a fun side that kids will love, too. The ranch is great for the veggies — and you can dip the chicken into it, too.

4. Taylor Farms Everything Avocado Salad

For people who are less into dark leafy greens (we get it!), this salad is for you. It has a base of crunchy iceberg and green-leaf lettuce, along with hard-boiled eggs and a colby-jack cheese mix. Toss it with the creamy avocado-ranch dressing, and sprinkle the everything seasoning on top — it’s so satisfying, especially with rotisserie chicken.

5. Kirkland Signature Quinoa Salad 

For an added shot of protein, the Kirkland Signature quinoa salad is a tasty Costco prepared food option. It’s loaded with chopped-up cucumbers, tomatoes, lentils, and bell peppers, tossed with a lemony vinaigrette. It’s big enough to share, or you may also have leftovers for tomorrow’s lunch.
