3 Ways to Change the World Through Food

The air is crisper, the temperature is colder, and there are holiday decorations in every grocery store I walk into—it’s officially that time of year again. There are so many great things to look forward to during the holiday season. For me, spending time and sharing meals with my loved ones is the best part.

There really is nothing like the love that’s present when you come together with friends and family over a delicious meal. That feeling of closeness is a fundamental part of what inspired me to start This Bar Saves Lives along with my good friends Kristen Bell, Todd Grinnell and Ravi Patel. Our mission is to help spread that sense of love around the world, by adding an element of giving into everyday actions. It’s simple—for every bar sold, we give life-saving food to a child in need.

Looking to add more love and meaning to your routine? Along with buying our bars, here are 3 ways to make an impact:

  1. Buy food from companies that make an effort to be sustainable. By choosing companies that are eco-friendly or socially conscious, you’re voting with your wallet for a better world. Oh, and did I mention that This Bar Saves Lives snacks are Non-GMO Project and Fair Trade certified?
  2. Be conscious about food waste, especially now during the holiday season. Here’s a shocking stat: up to 40% of food in America is never eaten, yet one in eight Americans is underfed. Save your Thanksgiving leftovers and repurpose them into new recipes to avoid wasting food.
  3. Donate to, or volunteer at, your local food bank through organizations like Feeding America—a fantastic NGO that we partner with to distribute food aid here in the U.S. And to make your volunteer experience even better? Get your family and friends to join in to help distribute food to those in need. Sharing the experience of generosity further reinforces it!

These actions may seem small, but together they add up to a huge impact. So shop smart, save food, volunteer, and choose snacks that give back like This Bar Saves Lives. Together, we can change the world.
