I don’t know about you, but I want the same thing from my Valentine’s Day dessert as I want from my date: Sweet but not cloying, sophisticated but fun, surprising yet familiar. That’s what these Tahini Salted Chocolate Date Chews deliver. We made them, and trust us when we tell you that they are every bit as crazy-bananas-delicious as they look.

Plus, there’s no way you won’t get bonus points when you casually mention that you made these beautiful filled chocolates yourself. Whoever is lucky enough to be your Valentine will swoon.
These candies have something for everyone: If the object of your affection is health-conscious, you can tell her or him how good-for-you they are, made with wholesome ingredients and no refined sugar. They’re vegan, and also paleo. But they’re so luscious —soft and caramel-y on the inside and coated with rich chocolate — that you need not mention the health factor if that would be a downer.
Just between you and me, they’re quick and easy to make, too — faster than going to the store, stressing over what to buy — and don’t require any fancy or hard-to-find ingredients.
All you do is whirl some dates, tahini, vanilla, coconut oil, and maple syrup in a food processor until smooth; form the mixture into a log; and freeze until firm. While it’s freezing, melt some chocolate. Slice up the tahini log and dip the pieces in the melted chocolate, sprinkle on some flaky sea salt, and refrigerate until the chocolate firms up. That’s it. Wrap them in a pretty box and you win Valentine’s Day.
If you’re feeling the pressure to give a fabulous gift this Valentine’s Day or simply want to give your sweetheart/sister/friend/coworker/self something really, really nice, consider this your your solution.
