Why you need to make these for your Valentine

These candies have something for everyone:

  • If the object of your affection is health-conscious, you can tell them how good-for-you they are, made with wholesome ingredients and no refined sugar.
  • These treats are vegan, and also paleo. And they have no refined sugar.
  • They’re so luscious —soft and caramel-y on the inside and coated with rich chocolate. Even if your Valentine isn’t into health at all, they’ll love these.

And because they’re so simple to make, they’re faster than going to the store, and stressing over what to buy — plus, they don’t require any fancy or hard-to-find ingredients or kitchen tools.

How to make Tahini Salted Chocolate Date Chews

All you do is whirl some dates, tahini, vanilla, coconut oil, and maple syrup in a food processor until smooth; form the mixture into a log; and freeze until firm. While it’s freezing, melt some chocolate. Slice up the tahini log and dip the pieces in the melted chocolate, sprinkle on some flaky sea salt, and refrigerate until the chocolate firms up. That’s it. Wrap them in a pretty box and you win Valentine’s Day.

If you’re feeling the pressure to give a fabulous gift this Valentine’s Day or simply want to give your sweetheart/sister/friend/coworker/self something really, really nice, consider this your your solution.
