What’s special about a Vitamix?

Vitamix is the gold standard of high-speed blenders; the brand is synonymous with the product (like Kleenex is for tissues). Its ubiquity comes thanks to the blenders’ longevity, their tough, super-sharp stainless steel blades, a powerful motor that keeps its cool no matter what the ingredients, and the company’s rep for above-and-beyond customer service. Plus, with carefully designed variable speeds, you can get any texture you want from the foods you make, from lightly chopped to a perfectly smooth puree.

Take your Vitamix way beyond smoothies

With all the various settings, the tamper, and the thoughtfully designed container, your Vitamix can take on myriad jobs in the kitchen, helping you prepare all kinds of healthy dishes. Here are some delicious things to make in your Vitamix:

  • Oat or nut milk. Sure, you can buy these in the store — but you pay a big premium for them, and they often contain fillers, stabilizers, sweeteners, or other additives. Save a ton of money and get just what you want by blending your own oat or nut milks.
  • Pesto. There are two main advantages to the Vitamix for pesto: You don’t have to chop the ingredients, just toss them in. Also, you can make your pesto smooth or chunky, whichever you prefer, simply by choosing the right speed setting.
  • Nut or seed butters. Whether you like to make it fresh all the time, you grabbed extra nuts out of the bulk bin, or you prefer a mix of nuts and/or seeds not usually sold in jars, you can blend up any kind of butter in the Vitamix.
  • Whole wheat pizza crust. Here’s another item that’s so much better homemade than store-bought — and made easy thanks to the Vitamix. A combination of blending and pulsing gets you a beautiful thin-crust dough everyone will love.
  • Dairy-free, no added sugar ice cream. Combine frozen fruit with coconut milk (or another milk of choice), and any flavorings, such as vanilla or cinnamon, and blend until thick, creamy, and smooth, like soft serve. Grab a spoon and enjoy right away.

And smoothies, too

We know this is supposed to be about all the other amazing things you can make, but smoothies in the Vitamix are too good to leave them out. Here are a few of our favorites:

  • Chocolate Avocado Nutella Smoothie: Feels like a milkshake, but it’s a meal, with 31 grams of protein and 6 grams of fiber
  • Restore Smoothie: With kale, apple, celery, ginger, lime, and pineapple, this is a bright, refreshing smoothie that’s loaded with good nutrition to give you plenty of energy
  • Creamsicle Breakfast Smoothie: Start your day with a creamy smoothie flavored with orange and mango, with electrolytes from coconut water and protein from Greek yogurt
