What is Tajin seasoning made of?

Classic Tajin contains a blend of mild dried chili peppers, plus dehydrated lime juice, and sea salt. The company also makes a reduced-sodium version, a habanero flavor, and a few hot sauces.

What does Tajin taste like?

It has some heat from the chilies (and everyone’s tolerance varies, so you may find it mild or spicy depending on your personal taste), and it’s also a little sour and a touch sweet. The salt helps to bring out the flavor, but it isn’t especially salty. It’s delicious and unique, and you may find that once you try it, you want to put it on everything.

What to use Tajin seasoning for?

Here are some fun and tasty ways to incorporate Tajin:

  • As a rub for proteins. Try it on chicken, fish, shrimp, beef, eggs, lamb, or even tofu. It’s also good in tuna or egg salad. Try this recipe for Tajin Grilled Chicken.
  • On vegetables. Add Tajin to roasted or grilled vegetables; it’s especially good on corn on the cob, sliced jicama, and cucumbers. Blend some into salad dressing (homemade or bottled). Try this recipe for Mexican Street Corn.
  • On fruit. Sprinkle tajin on fresh or grilled watermelon, cantaloupe, pineapple, papaya, or mango. If you’re making a fruit salad, toss in some Tajin (or offer it on the side). It also wakes up fruit sorbets and fruity ice pops. Try this recipe for Sweet & Sour Tajin Peaches & Strawberries
  • In dips. Adding it to guacamole is a no-brainer. It’s also great in hummus and other bean dips, or in creamy dips. Try this recipe for Guacamole with Tajin.
  • In snacks. Add Tajin seasoning when roasting nuts or pumpkin seeds, or when making a snack mix. Try this recipe for Tajin Roasted Nuts.
  • In drinks. Add it to margaritas, a mezcal mule, a michelada, or any kind of fruit daiquiri. Or rub some lime juice around the rim of the cocktail glass and dip it in Tajin seasoning. Try this recipe for Sparkling Tajin Mocktail.
