The number one piece of advice I give people who are thinking about doing Whole30 is to really prepare your kitchen. And the easiest way to do that is to fill your freezer with a handful of delicious and compliant meals. Do yourself a favor and make at least a couple of these freezer-friendly Whole30 recipes — your future self with thank you.

1. Crispy Swoodles with Bacon from Nom Nom Paleo

This was hands-down my favorite recipe I made the first time I did Whole30. I love that it’s not as meat-heavy as other Whole30 recipes, and that you can eat it for basically any meal (it’s great with a fried egg on top for breakfast!). The only downside to this recipe is that it does take a little time to make, so I would double or even triple it if possible and put half of it in the freezer for later.

2. Classic Beef Lasagna from Every Last Bite

One of the unexpected things I enjoy about Whole30 is how it forces creativity in the kitchen. You would think that lasagna would be impossible on Whole30, but you just have to think outside the box. This “lasagna” uses sheets of squash for the noodles, and cashew cream in place of cheese. Besides that, it’s a “classic” lasagna with tomato sauce and meat (in this case, a mixture of pork and beef). The blogger behind Every Last Bite recommends freezing the lasagna unbaked, and then letting it thaw for an hour before popping it in the oven.

3. Whole30 Turkey Meatballs from Well Plated

While doing Whole30, the answer to “I don’t know what to make for dinner tonight” is pretty much always meatballs. Add a meatball to anything — zoodles, a pile of cooked greens, sautéed vegetables, and more — and you’ve got a meal. So, if you’re smart, you’ll make a big batch of meatballs and fill a couple Ziploc bags for future use! These turkey meatballs from Well Plated are super flavorful and use a ton of spices. You can freeze them with or without their sauce for up to two months.

whole30 breakfast casserole

4. Breakfast Casserole from Paleo Running Momma

I found breakfast to be the most monotonous meal on Whole30. Most days, I just had scrambled eggs with avocado and salsa. The first week or two this was great! And then I got bored. I love the idea of this make-ahead breakfast casserole as an option for a few days, especially if your family or roommates are also doing Whole30. This casserole is packed with sweet potato, Brussels sprouts, and bacon. Make two and add one to your freezer.

whole30 chili

5. Extra Veggie Beef Chili from Our Salty Kitchen

As the title of this recipe suggests, this chili does not skimp on the vegetables. In fact, there are two pounds of vegetables in this chili compared to one pound of beef! And of course, because this is Whole30-friendly, there are no beans. It’s the perfect cozy recipe to pull out of the freezer on a busy night.

chicken tortilla soup

6. Instant Pot Chicken No-Tortilla Soup from Unbound Wellness

Chicken tortilla soup is one of my favorite soups, so I was excited to find this Whole30-compliant version. And it seems quick and easy to make in the Instant Pot: You sauté some veggies in avocado oil, then add zucchini and sauté some more, then you add your broth, tomato, chicken, and seasoning and cook on high pressure for 12 minutes. You can freeze the soup for two months — and remember to top with plenty of cilantro and avocado before serving.

chicken burrito casserole

7. Chicken Burrito Casserole from Paleo Running Momma

If I had to eat this every single night for dinner for 30 days, I probably wouldn’t get bored. There’s so much going on in this casserole! There’s homemade cashew cheese, lots of shredded chicken, cauliflower rice, vegetables, and a hit of spice with salsa and jalapeños. The fact that it’s also freezer-friendly just takes it over the edge of being a perfect Whole30 meal.

cauliflower rice

8. Cauliflower Rice from Minimalist Baker

Stuffing your freezer with homemade cauliflower rice is a gift to your future self. So many Whole30 meals need a little something-something to bulk them up, and having some cauliflower rice on hand just makes everything easier. Freeze the raw cauliflower rice and then steam it when you’re ready to use. I recommend adding some sautéed garlic and cilantro before serving!

pulled pork

9. Easy Slow Cooker Pulled Pork from Real Simple Good

This pulled pork is great for adding to sandwiches, salads, and that aforementioned cauliflower rice (burrito bowls!). This recipe only takes five minutes of prep and then eight hours in the slow cooker. When it’s done cooking, shred it and put it in the freezer for later use! Hot tip: Try freezing this in one or two cup portions so it’s easier to thaw for dinner.

cabbage soup

10. Chunky Beef, Cabbage, and Tomato Soup from Skinnytaste

I regularly eat this soup even when I’m not doing Whole30. It’s a humble meal, but it’s secretly very easy to make and deeply satisfying. You only need a few ingredients, too — your standard mirepoix (carrots, onions, celery), crushed tomatoes, green cabbage, ground beef, stock, and seasoning. Many of the comments on Skinnytaste say they regularly double or triple the recipe and then freeze it in individual portions for later.
