December 11, 2018

Christmas morning, New Year’s Day, and the whole holiday week in between—maybe you have a houseful of guests or family in from out of town. No matter what your particular situation, one thing is a given: Everyone wakes up hungry. Here are some super-tasty, crowd pleasing meals you can whip up that will feed everyone well and leave them feeling energetic and ready for all that holiday fun.

Pumpkin Pie Squares with Oatmeal Crust

Who’s going to turn down pumpkin pie for breakfast? Clean Plates Collective member and nutrition expert Amie Valpone brilliantly uses oats in the gluten-free crust and minimizes the sweet stuff (relying on dates and a little maple syrup) so you (and your guests) can have pie for breakfast and still feel like a champ.

Broccoli-Cheddar Quiche with Sweet Potato Crust

This one pleases a lot of tastes: It’s grain- and gluten-free, it’s vegetarian, and it has that classic broccoli-cheddar combo everyone loves. The crust, made simply from thinly sliced sweet potatoes, makes the dish look super-fancy, but couldn’t be easier to put together.

Bacon Pancakes

Leave it to Clean Plates Collective member and primal/keto expert Mark Sisson to create a bacon pancake recipe that’s actually good for you. It’s grain free (made with coconut flour), easy to make and you can serve it with maple syrup or sour cream and hot sauce, so there’s something for everyone.

Healthy Muffins

We love this recipe because it’s the starting point from which you can go crazy. Take the basic ingredients listed (white whole-wheat flour, pureed fruit such as bananas or applesauce, eggs, etc.), toss in some of the suggested add-ins (or come up with your own), and you can have several varieties of muffins ready for everyone to grab and go.

Paleo granola

DIY Granola

Here’s another simple, make-ahead recipe that you can customize to your group’s tastes. It’s paleo, easy to make vegan, and so delicious on yogurt, chia pudding, or by the handful. Plus, homemade granola seems like a big deal but is actually super-easy to make (don’t tell anyone, your secret is safe with us).
