How to Meal Plan According to Your Star Sign

In the past year, most of us have spent more time thinking about how to get dinner on the table than we ever have before. And you’ve probably figured out that the process of planning your meals isn’t a one-size-fits-all kind of thing. Meal planning is deeply personal! It looks different for everyone. Some people are great at mapping out what they want to eat for the week ahead — breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They may have color-coded spreadsheets and a freezer full of ready-to-eat meals. Others have a more go-with-the-flow approach. They love hitting up the farmers market or seeing how they feel on any given day. There’s no right way to do it, but knowing your star sign can come in handy. A Virgo and a Sagittarius, for example, are going to approach meal planning in very different ways.

That’s why we tapped Alice Bell, resident astrologer for British Vogue, to put together some meal planning advice based on your star sign. Here’s what may feel the most natural for you, whether you’re a Gemini or a Pisces.

If You’re a Fire Sign: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius

Fire signs live an active lifestyle, and they’re always looking forward to their next, new adventure. They like to do things very spur of the moment, so when it comes to meal time they usually are not big planners. And they can be a bit impatient, too. They prefer quick and easy recipes that don’t take long to make, or grab-and-go meals that are road-ready. Fire signs also have more adventurous taste buds, so they like trying out dishes from other cultures. They might be drawn to very colorful food, or meals that have a lot of strong flavors.

If You’re an Earth Sign: Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn

When earth signs find what food works for them, they tend to stick with it. They probably have a few simple recipes that they love to make on repeat, and they may have family favorites that have been passed down for generations. On Sunday nights, they love planning out what they’re going to have for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day for the coming week, so they prefer simple recipes that they can easily heat up and enjoy. Eating healthy is very important for earth signs as well, so they like to make sure every ingredient they’re using serves some kind of nutritional purpose.

If You’re an Air Sign: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius

Air signs want variety when it comes to their meal options. They like to change up what’s on the menu every week, and they may wait until the last minute to go grocery shopping. That’s because they’re never too sure  what they’re going to be craving. They prefer to have a lot of options to snack on, so they might stock a little bit of everything in their fridge. Any recipe that is trendy or a little unusual tends to grab their eye too. Air signs also like to get creative, so they often put a fun twist on basic recipes.

If You’re a Water Sign: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces

Water signs crave comfort food. They are highly sensitive, and their emotions may feel overwhelming at times, so they like to turn to their favorite recipes to soothe themselves. Easy to make, warm food like mac and cheese or soups are what they probably live by. Water signs also end up planning their meals based on what kind of mood they’re in, so they usually have an intuitive feeling for what they want to make. If they’re having a great week and have a lot of energy, they may want to try out something more complicated. If they’re feeling drained, they will want a recipe that requires minimal effort.
