|

By Rachel Levin

Just when you thought you’d run out of ways to enjoy the tropical taste and nourishing health benefits of coconuts, we’ve found five new products for your coconut-loving pleasure. As you’re drinking or downing these delectable goodies, remember that coconut helps you burn fat, reduces your hunger, and potentially protects you from heart and brain disease due to its healthy fatty acids make up.

In case you just can’t get enough coconut, we’ve also rounded up this delicious recipe for Coconut MilkCoconut Milk and Dragronfruit Smoothie or find more coconut articles, recipes and tips.

Sparkling Coconut Beverages

Two new sparkling flavored coconut beverages offer a sophisticated upgrade on electrolyte-rich coconut water. Coco Libre’s slim cans of no-sugar-added sparkling organic coconut water come infused with natural fruit juices and herbs, including grapefruit juice, lemon juice with ginger, and cucumber with lemongrass. CocoMazing’s glass bottles of effervescent organic coconut water come in lemon, blood orange and cherry pomegranate flavors and are lightly sweetened with stevia leaf and organic cane sugar. Both options are a refreshing, low-sugar way to get your bubbly on.

 Healthee Heat-and-Serve Coconut Milk Rices

Coconut milk-infused rice is a delicious staple in Thailand, but you don’t have to travel farther than your microwave for this subtly sweet treat. Healthee pre-cooks its organic brown rice in mineral-rich coconut milk; just pop the container in the microwave for 90 seconds and you’ve got a ready-to-eat batch of truly tasty, slightly sticky (in a good way) rice, ready to enjoy as a side dish or as a hearty base for veggie-packed rice bowl. For a twist on the original coconut flavor, there’s also a turmeric flavor, which adds golden organic turmeric to the mix.

 Coconut Organics’ Coconut Salts

Can’t decide whether you’re craving salty or sweet? Now there’s no need to choose: Coconut Organics, whose addictive snacks we already love (hello, chocolate-covered coconut chips), is introducing a new line of organic seasonings called CocoSalt that marry sweet coconut sugar with savory salts and spices. Coconut sugar, which is extracted from the nectar of the coconut blossom, is naturally low-glycemic, and rich in essential minerals like potassium and magnesium. The original CocoSalt combines coconut sugar with unrefined Celtic sea salt, and there’s also a Pepper CocoSalt with the added kick of organic pepper. Chipotle CocoSalt adds organic chipotle, great for use in marinades, while Chocolate CocoSalt—which adds raw organic cacao and organic vanilla—is a great topper for sweeter stuff like whole-grain pancakes or fresh fruit. All four flavors launch next week at CocoSalt.com.

Miyoko’s Kitchen European Style Cultured Vegan Butter

The first ingredient in this plant-based butter alternative is organic coconut oil, which imparts an impossibly creamy texture that rivals real butter. Most vegan butters rely on palm oil to achieve the same effect, but with the news that orangutan habitats have been threatened by palm oil harvesting, it’s a welcome relief that Miyoko’s Kitchen went a different and more nutritious direction. Organic cashews also add to the creaminess, while the cultures and sea salt impart a rich depth of flavor. This butter actually melts, cooks, bakes and spreads like it was churned from cow’s milk!

Jackson’s Honest Rippled Red Heirloom Potato Chips

Potato chips feel like less of a cheat when they’re cooked in coconut oil, which is chock full of healthy fats. Jackson’s Honest uses organic coconut oil in their entire line of potato chips, and  these deep red snacks are the latest addition to the lineup. They’re made from heirloom potatoes native to Peru, whose deep crimson color comes from the same antioxidants found in raspberries. The crinkle cut adds fun texture, and the light dusting of sea salt brings out the full flavor. Add these ruby red babies to a party spread for a pop of crunch and color!
